More talent than is possible in one so young

About a year ago my better half was visiting her beloved Yorkshire and picked up a copy of the Barnsley Chronicle which had an article on a young singer in it. Her name was, and still is, Lauren Tate.

Curiosity got the better of us so started following the links to see if she lived up to the hype. The answer was a big fat 'yes'.
The YouTube clips with The Bankrupt Brothers (Flat Wave Studios) showed this over and over again and looking through the followers on the Facebook page her fan base is fairly worldwide too. She has released an album of covers which shows her range off perfectly.

This year we were looking for somewhere to go for a short break away and saw Lauren was doing a gig on the August Bank Holiday as part of a Help For Heroes gig - the Heroes being the Yorkshire Air ambulance.

A few clicks on the Internet and we had booked our accommodation, the hire car and planned our route from the South coast to Barnsley.

We arrived at the venue and spotted Lauren with her parents so said a quick hello then settled in for an afternoon of musical entertainment from other local acts on the bill. This was the first time we had seen Lauren perform live, ably accompanied by Sean McAvinue on guitar, and I hope it isn't the last time either. She ripped through her set without hitting a bad note, neither did Sean by the way. The audience enjoyed it too and received a few encores for their support.

After her performance Lauren came over for a chat, such a level headed girl, and thanked us for coming to support her which was not a problem as sometimes you just need to see real talent for yourself.

New Talent is out there !

Went to the see what was happening on the Youth Stage at this year's Beggars Fair in Romsey, Hampshire and came across a band called The Fringe. Four young lads who can actually play a singer who can sing and is learning his stage craft whilst swinging his bass around the stage. They play all their own tunes which for someone of their age is pretty damn good (the music that is, not their age. Speaking as someone who has been going to gigs for over thirty five years I have seen a lot worse supporting some pretty big name bands. My advice: go see them and support live music.

Father's Day

Despite saying I wasn't going to repeat myself photo-wise but there was another display by Amews Falconry at Hilliers Arboritum near Romsey. This is a great way to hone your skills on trying to photograph a moving target - in the case of the Peregrine Falcon a very fast moving target.

Welcome to Razor-Photos

Johnny Marr 6th June 2013 - The Brook, Southampton

One of my passions is photography, another is music (listening to it I hasten to add as I haven't got a musical bone in my body to be actually able to play it. But I am even happier when I can combine both of them. This I have done with varying degrees of success, mainly based on the venue dictating the size of the camera I am willing to take with me. Also the at the smaller ones you can get closer to the band.
Blogs will be added whenever I have been somewhere worth photographing, ideally not repeating myself too much.
